Community BBQ & Backpack Giveaway: A Day of Faith, Service & Community ❤️🎒
Mount Dennis Baptist Church was blessed to welcome families, friends, and neighbours for a wonderful Community BBQ & Backpack Giveaway!
Mount Dennis Baptist Church was blessed to host a wonderful Community BBQ & Backpack Giveaway, bringing together children, families, volunteers, churches, community partners, and friends for a day filled with generosity, fellowship, and love.
From delicious food and music to face painting, a bouncy castle, outdoor games, and the distribution of backpacks and school supplies, the day was filled with joy and meaningful connections.
Above all, we give God all the glory and thanks. We are grateful for His provision, His grace, and for every person He brought alongside us to make this day possible.
Celebrating Through Service
The event was also a special opportunity to celebrate our pastor, Rev. Dennis Onyilo, on his 40th birthday. It was fitting to mark this milestone through an event centred on serving and blessing the wider community. Pastor Dennis, we thank you for your leadership, dedication, and sacrifice of love for our church and community.
Thank You to Our Community Partners
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this special day.
12 Division – Toronto Police Service
Special thanks to Superintendent Richard Harris, Detective Joshua Jamshidi, and the men and women of 12 Division for joining us and for their work behind the scenes to help make backpacks available for children in our community.
Scott Funeral Home – West Toronto
Thank you for your generous financial contribution, backpacks, school supplies, and continued support of this initiative.
First Baptist Church Toronto & Minister Kevin Dill
Thank you for your tremendous support and donations, as well as helping set up tents, grill food, provide music, and create a welcoming environment for everyone.
Bloor West Village Baptist Church, Rev. Darrel Battle & Family
Thank you for your generous donation and for personally joining us to support and celebrate with our community.
JC and Our Community Partners
Thank you for your generosity and for believing in the work being done within our community.
We are also grateful to Frances Nunziata, Ward 5, and MPP Mohamed Firin for their continued presence and support of our community.
Our sincere thanks also go to the Canadian Baptists of Ontario & Quebec for continuing to stand alongside Mount Dennis Baptist Church and support the initiatives God has entrusted to us.
Thank You to Our Volunteers ❤️
A tremendous thank you goes to our Mount Dennis Baptist Church volunteers and Pace Setters Summer Camp team.
From planning, cooking and decorating to serving food, registering families, caring for children, distributing supplies and staying behind to clean up, your tireless service made this day possible. We are deeply grateful for every person who gave their time, energy, resources, and prayers.
To every parent, child, camper, family, and community member who attended: thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving you.
The Need Continues 🎒
While we are grateful for every child we were able to support, our work is not finished. We currently have approximately 200 children on our waiting list, and we are trusting God to make a way for us to reach even more families.
We continue to welcome donations of backpacks, school supplies, and financial contributions to help us serve children who are still waiting.
A backpack may seem like a simple gift, but to a child it can communicate something powerful:
“You are seen. You are valued. Your community cares about you. And you are not alone.”
We pray that God will replenish every giver, volunteer, partner, and person who sacrificed their time and resources to make this initiative possible.
“Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
To God be all the glory! 🙏🏾
